FAQ resort policies and tips for your stay

Resort Policies

Operating Procedures During Covid-19

At this point, New York State has lifted mandated restrictions for the hospitality sector. In accordance, we are no longer requiring guests to wear masks when checking in or entering the restaurant. However, we do have a very small lobby and so still ask that only one to two members of your party come to the desk to check-in. Also, we are still not offering in-room maid service for stays. The procedure for replenishing towels and replaceable room amenities is explained at check-in.

Transportation/Directions

Dunham’s Bay Resort is located at 2999 State Route 9L, Lake George, NY. Click here for directions/maps.
We are not on the trolly route but are serviced by Uber / Lyft and local cab companies.

Check-In / Check-Out

Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. / Check-out time is 11:00 a.m.

Age Requirement

You must be at least 21 years old to reserve a room and to check in.

Credit Card & Photo ID Required at Check-In

Regardless of your method of payment for your room, you will be required to present a valid credit card at check-in for incidentals. You will also be required to present photo identification. If you wish to change the method of payment for incidentals, you may do so at check-out. Note that it can take several business days for the bank to process the final charge and reconcile your account.

Early Check-In & Late Check-Out

We do not guarantee early check-in because of the resort’s high occupancy, availability of specific guest room types, and the time required for our housekeeping staff to clean and prepare guest rooms. However, we are happy to accommodate early check-ins where and when availability allows.  We do not allow early check-in before 12pm.
If you wish to arrange for a late check-out, contact the front desk on the morning of your departure, before the normal check-out time. The front desk will let you know whether a late check-out is available and, if so, the time and any corresponding fee.

Early Departure Policy

You may check out prior to your reserved departure date any day before 11 am. However, refunds are only given in accordance with the requirements of the Cancellation Policy of the rate you booked.

Cancellation Policy

If your plans change and you need to cancel your reservation, contact us at 518-656-9242. Cancellation policies are dependent on the rate booked and the platform which you used to book the reservation (Booking.com, Priceline, Expedia, ETC). Please take a moment to read over your cancellation policy prior to contacting us so you are familiar with the terms of your reservation.

Non-Smoking Policy

Dunham’s Bay Resort is a smoke-free-lodging resort. Smoking (including vaping and not limited to tobacco products) is prohibited in all interior areas of the resort (including guest rooms, cabins, pools, restaurants, lounges, weddings, meetings, and event spaces). Smoking is also prohibited in some exterior spaces (including recreation areas, playgrounds, fire pit, and under the tent). We do provide designated smoking areas outside to accommodate the needs of guests who smoke. If you smoke in a non-designated area or you tamper with any smoke detectors, the fee for cleaning, deodorizing, and maintenance is a minimum of $200, and you face probable eviction without a refund.

Pet Policy

Unfortunately, we are not a pet-friendly resort. We do accept ADA-compliant service animals, as required by law. Please note that companion animals do not meet this standard in the state of New York. You must contact a reservation specialist to notify us of your need so we may be able to accommodate your request. If you have a pet in a room the fee for cleaning, deodorizing, and maintenance is a minimum of $500, and you face probable eviction without a refund.

Cooking & Fire/Flame Policy

The safety of our guests, staff, and this facility is extremely important to us. Cooking or heating food in guest rooms is prohibited unless you use an in-room cooking appliance provided by the resort as it is intended to be used. The same restriction applies to cooking in any public space. Outdoor cooking/grilling is permitted only in the grilling area adjacent to each guest cabin or the public shared area located next to the play den in the courtyard. A minimum $250 fee will be charged for cooking or heating food in a room using any other appliance (including a hot plate, toaster oven, water heater, rice cooker, grill, burner, heating appliance, iron, or any other item intended for cooking or heating), for cooking in a public space, or for outdoor cooking/grilling in an unapproved area or with an unapproved appliance, and you face probable eviction without a refund.

Fire Pit Policy

There is one shared fire pit on the property located in the courtyard area. Hours of use are noted on guest letters distributed at check-in time. These hours can vary due to inclement weather or subject to management. We prohibit the burning of anything other than the wood provided by the facility. Except for the outdoor fire pit, fires or flames (including fireworks and candles) are not permitted anywhere on the resort property.

Speakers/Boomboxes/Radios

You are welcome to enjoy your personal music during the day at a reasonable volume. If your music can be heard more than five feet away, it is too loud. Please note that no music devices without headphones are allowed in the pool area. No amplified music of any kind is allowed outside after 11 pm by town ordinance.

Quiet Time / Good Night’s Rest Policy

To ensure the comfort and enjoyment of all our guests, the resort enforces a Quiet Time / Good Night’s Rest Policy throughout the resort (including the cabin area) from 11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. every day. Please respect other guests’ right to rest free from excessive noise and disturbances, and please refrain from loud conversations, loud music (personal music devices/speakers) or other loud noise in the guest corridors/walkways and in or outside your guest room. If we receive a complaint about excessive noise, you will be given a warning and asked to keep the noise down and all guests not registered in the room will be asked to leave. If we receive a subsequent complaint, you and your guests will be asked to leave the resort and no refund will be given. These guidelines are in place to ensure that every guest enjoys a peaceful and pleasant stay in our resort.

Code of Conduct

Resort guests are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that will not interfere with the enjoyment of the resort by others. Aggressive and violent behavior or abusive language and profanity toward other resort guests or staff will not be tolerated and may result in intervention by local law enforcement and eviction from the resort without a refund. Any illegal activity (including the use of illegal substances) will be reported to local law enforcement and will result in eviction from the hotel without a refund.

Pools, Recreation, Fire Pit, & Beach Policy

The resort pool, hot tub, recreation areas, and fire pit are reserved for registered guests only. Any use of these facilities is done at the guest’s own risk.  The Beach area is not owned or operated by the resort. Its hours are seasonal and open from dawn till dusk. Our guests are responsible for making sure they follow the rules put forth by the owners of the beach: no loud music, no glass bottles, no horseplay. All guests must be wearing provided wristbands when at the beach. Children under the age of 18 must be supervised by an adult at all times to use the resort’s pool, recreation areas, fire pit, and beach area.
